On 10 April, Consul General Tang Rui met with Prof. Dame Nancy Rothwell, the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester at his residence. Both sides exchanged views on educational cooperation, student training and other issues between China and the UK.

Consul General Tang said that the University of Manchester is a popular higher educational institution among Chinese students, and there are currently a large number of Chinese students studying here. The University has carried out exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities at various levels and in various fields and has contributed positively to promoting educational exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK. Our Chinese Consulate General in Manchester is willing to continue to provide as much support as possible for the University's cooperation with China, thus jointly promoting the friendship between the two countries to new level.

President Prof Rothwell expressed her gratitude to the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester for its long-standing and strong support to the University’s engagements with China. The University, by working closely with the Consulate General, has enabled the students to increase their awareness on telecom fraud, and their life and studies in the UK have been effectively safeguarded. In recent years, the UoM Chinese alumni network is playing an active role around the world. The University will continue to commit to educational exchanges and cooperation between the UK and China, and cultivate more young envoys for friendly exchanges between the two countries.
