|Consul General Zheng Xiyuan Holds Briefing on China's Development for Liverpool Delegation to China|
On April 5th 2019, Consul General Zheng Xiyuan travelled to Liverpool to host a briefing reception for the local delegation of industry, business and education ahead of its trip to China to attend the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF). Consul Lyu Xiaomei accompanied him.
Consul General Zheng briefed the delegation on China's economic and social development in 2018. He stated that the visit of the Liverpool delegation of industry, business and education to Shanghai to showcase Liverpool's long history of exchanges with China and its unique advantages of being a cultural capital and a technologically innovative city at CISTF constitutes a celebrating gesture of the 20th anniversary of Liverpool's twinning with Shanghai, and helps both cities better exploit sisterhood to mutual benefits. He pointed out that Liverpool is a crucial port on the Maritime Silk Road and a front-runner of Britain's exchanges with China. He believes that this visit will certainly deepen the relationship between the twin cities and substantially expand cooperation between the two sides, and it will also attract more inbound Chinese enterprises, tourists and students to appreciate Liverpool's development advantages and unique charm.
The Liverpool delegation to China is composed of 22 representative businesses and universities and will carry out a week-long visit to Shanghai and Suzhou.
