Introduction to the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (CVASC)

2009-06-26

Recent years have witnessed increased demand for Chinese visas. To provide a better service for visa applicants, the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester has decided to introduce the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (CVASC) to undertake the administrative work of its visa operation.

Manchester CVASC will start operation in early July, 2009. The Centre will be mainly responsible for handling applications from ordinary passport holders for the following categories of Chinese visas: Tourist and Family Visit Visa (L-visa), Business Visa(F-visa), Student Visa(X-visa), Work Visa(Z-visa), Transit Visa(G-visa), Crew Visa(C-visa), Journalist Visa(J-visa) and Permanent Residence Visa(D-visa). The Chinese Consulate General hereby reminds all applicants of the following: Operated by Bank of China (UK) Company Limited, CVASC is a commercial entity completely independent from the Chinese Consulate General, neither its visa office, nor part of it, nor its subordinate. CVASC has no involvement in the visa assessment and decision-making process. Whether a visa is to be issued or not, and what type of visa is to be issued as well as its period of validity, number of entry and duration of stay shall be decided by the Chinese Consulate General in the light of China's relevant laws and regulations. The Chinese Consulate General has the right to request an applicant to provide supplementary documents or to come to the Consulate General for an interview.

Holders of diplomatic and service passports, and applicants qualified for Chinese diplomatic, service and courtesy visas and those applying for Hong Kong SAR visa/entry permit or for document authentication can still submit their applications directly to the Consulate General without an appointment.

After the launch of CVASC, travel agencies or other agents may continue to receive applications from applicants, but all the applications received by them shall have to be forwarded to CVASC.

Basic information about CVASC:

Address: First Floor, 75 Mosley Street, Manchester M2 3HR

Applicants may contact CVASC through the above channels or visit its website: http://www.visaforchina.org for more details.

CVASC will collect from each applicant visa fees on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General, and in the meantime charge each applicant a fee for its service regardless of approval or rejection of his or her visa application by Consulate General.

Please note that more information about the launch of CVASC will be released on the official website of the Consulate General:
