Consul General Tang Rui Attending Manchester’s Chinese New Year Celebrations

On February 11, Manchester’s Year of the Dragon celebrations was held in the city centre. Consul General Tang Rui, Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Yasmine Dar, and other government leaders, leaders of the overseas Chinese associations and representatives of Chinese enterprises were invited to the celebrations. Tens of thousands of local people watched the parade and cultural performances. The bustling festive and peaceful atmosphere can be felt everywhere.



Consul General Tang Rui extended his sincere Chinese New Year greeting to all circles of the Consular District and congratulated the overseas Chinese associations in Manchester for successfully organizing the Chinese New Year celebrations, which contributed positively to enriching local cultural life and promoting the development of a diverse and inclusive community. China and the UK are both great powers with global influence and permanent members of the UN Security Council, and China is ready to join hands with the UK to address global challenges and contribute to world peace and development.


In their speeches, the guests recognized the contributions made by the overseas Chinese associations and extended their best wishes for the Chinese New Year to the overseas Chinese and the British public. Traditional Chinese cultural performances were staged at the event to showcase the Chinese New Year celebration culture to the British public, which received wide acclaim.
