Consul General LI Yongsheng arrived in Manchester in October 2014, and has taking office as the tenth Chinese Consul General in Manchester.

Consul General LI Yongsheng arrived in Manchester in October 2014, and has assumed responsibility as the tenth Chinese Consul General in Manchester.

Consul General Li was born in 1956. He started his foreign affairs career in 1978 from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Anhui Province of China, where he worked until 2009 as its Director General with several overseas postings:

    From 1989 to 1990, Second Secretary in the Chinese Embassy to Rwanda.

    From 1991 to 1994, Second Secretary, and then First Secretary, in the Chinese Embassy to Mali.

    In 1998, further studies in the Maryland University of the United States.

Prior to his current position, Mr Li had been a Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Mission to the European Union from 2010 till September 2014.

Consul General Li is married to Madam GONG Lina. They have one son.
