2016-08-25

Acting Consul General Lai Bo met with Mr. Li Guoliang, Vice Governor of Hainan Province on his visit to Manchester on August 24th, 2016. Consul Wang Ying and Consul Lyu Xiaomei attended the meeting.

In his welcome remarks, Acting Consul General Lai pointed out that in recent years, China-UK carried out outstanding multi-level exchanges and cooperation in many sectors. Against the backdrop of the sluggish world economy, mutual trade has kept stable with investment in dual directions increasing in leaps and bounds. The north of England covered by the Consulate is an old industrial base boasting unique resources and convenient transport. It is strong in science and technology and abounds in culture, education, tourism and sports resources. In the wake of President Xi Jinping's visit last year, the north of England has been eager to explore business possibilities with Chinese partners. The Consulate is delighted to see more active interaction at sub-national level between the two countries and pledges consistent support to facilitate a win-win cooperation.

Vice Governor Li thanked the Consulate for its support of Hainan's development and explained the purpose of visit was to explore cooperation with UK IT industires and industrial associations and to learn more about British Hi-tech parks.

Inviter CBBC representatives Sally Zhang and Nathalie achet-Gaujarde also attended the meeting.
