Consul General Zheng Xiyuan Holds Video Meeting with Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool


On May 21, 2020, Consul General Zheng Xi Yuan held video meeting with Professor Dame Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool. Professor Gavin Brown, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education of the university, Professor Jeff Blackford, Dean for Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Counsellor Zhao Jiang, Consul Lyu Xiaomei, Consul Chen Xuefeng, Vice Consul Hu Xiao attended the meeting.

Vice-Chancellor Beer told Consul General Zheng that the university attached great importance to the safety and interests of staying-on campus Chinese students and will continue to provide full support and assistance, especially on the issues of great concern to them such as online learning, accommodation, safety as well as visa.

Consul General Zheng thanked Dame Janet and the university for taking care of those staying-on Chinese students and highly commended on the mutual aid platform established under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, through which 10 Chinese communities in Liverpool donated PPEs to NHS, and Xi’an city and East China University of Science and Technology assisted Liverpool in its fight against COVID-19, delivering a strong message of the long-lasting friendship between the two peoples.

Consul General Zheng pledged continuous support of the University’s future cooperation with China.
