During the talks, Tang emphasized that there is huge potential in Sino-UK cooperation. "The Chinese government attaches great importance to the climate change issue, and will be guided by the scientific concept on development and follow new industrialization path to achieve coordinated development between economy and population, resources and environment," said Tang. He said the issue on climate change needs joint efforts from around the world and China is ready to actively participate in international cooperation on climate change in a responsible attitude. He also urged developed nations to transfer technology to developing countries in a more open attitude "in a bid to improve global capability to tackle climate change". Prescott appreciated China's efforts to address climate change. Following the talks the two leaders attended a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on education and scientific research.
