Q: The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China issued a report on September 8, warning of China's loss of momentum in its market reforms in some areas. What is China's comment on that?

A: Reform and opening up is the basic state policy of China. China will forge ahead with reform and opening up in strict accordance with the decision of the third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee. China will tap the potential of reform in promoting economic growth, pursue growth through reform, press ahead with structural adjustment and stabilize the economic growth rate at around 7%. China is proceeding with a new round of high-level opening up to the outside world, and its door will open even wider. The Chinese government will take more measures in market access, financial services, protection of intellectual property rights and other areas, treat Chinese and foreign companies as equals and create a level playing field.

The EU is China's comprehensive strategic partner and the largest trading partner. We have full confidence in stronger China-EU business ties in the process of China's reform and opening up.

The steady and sound growth of China-Japan relations serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples. The Chinese side stands for the development of China-Japan relations based on the four political documents and in the spirit of regarding history as the mirror and looking to the future. We hope that the Japanese side will work together with the Chinese side to properly address issues in bilateral relations, and make concrete efforts for the improvement and development of bilateral relations.
