Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei's Regular Press Conference on September 23, 2015

2015-09-23

State Councilor Wang Yong will attend the opening ceremony of the Euro-Asia Economic Forum 2015 and deliver a keynote speech on September 24 in Xi'an, Shaanxi.

The Euro-Asia Economic Forum 2015 will be held from September 23 to 26 with the theme of innovating cooperation models and sharing the prosperity of the Silk Road. The Forum will include the opening ceremony and plenary session, parallel forums on finance, science and technology, culture, tourism and ecology, the exhibition of products from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries, etc.. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan of Armenia, Vice President Paramananda Jha of Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong of Cambodia will attend the opening ceremony upon invitation.

China hopes that this forum would promote broad dialogue in political, commercial and academic arenas among Eurasian countries, enhance mutual trust, pool consensus, encourage all parties to explore innovative models for the development of the Belt and Road initiative and serve as a platform of communication and cooperation to realize common development and prosperity of all Eurasian countries.

After the press conference, the following question was raised: Libya's new round of political dialogue was concluded in Morocco on September 21. Despite the failure of signing a peace agreement as scheduled, all parties of Libya reached the "final text" of the Libyan political agreement and planned to seal it in the near term. How do you comment on this?

Hong Lei said that China congratulates Libya on its positive progress in the political dialogue. China supports the UN-led political dialogue process of Libya, and hopes that all parties there would seize this opportunity, set store by what has been achieved now, realize reconciliation and restore national peace and stability at an early date.
